Melody was our very favourite kid from our 2023 kidding season. From the very beginning she oozed dairy strength and had a stylish grace that caught our eye every day. She kidded as a yearling and her mammary didn't disappoint! She has a lovely, easy to milk udder with decent production for a yearling. Melody is a daughter of our sweet Song and inherited her mother's gentle personality. We are very excited to see how this young doe matures -- she is only going to get better with time and maturity!
UPDATE Summer 2025: After kidding with gorgeous triplets, Melody struggled with a nasty bout of mastitis. Melody is living next door with our wonderful neighbors and even though the affected side lost a lot of its production, Linda did a fabulous job helping her through that mastitis and she has made a wonderful recovery. In spite of those challenges, Melody is still milking around 12lbs/day out of a phenomenal second freshening udder!
And to top it all off? She scored an amazing 88 VEVV on her first appraisal -- our highest ever score on a two year old!
We really couldn't be any more pleased with this amazing doe. We are also beyond excited that we get to keep both of Melody's gorgeous doelings in our herd!
