Nelly was a super cute, fun-loving kid and she wasn't quite sure what to think when she had her first baby. In fact, it took us a minute to figure out who the slimy, wet baby in the corner belonged to -- Nelly apparently pushed out her kid and then went straight away to go lay down by her friends. Once we got that sorted, Nelly became a wonderful mother. She has a darling little udder and although her production isn't super impressive this year, we have been told that some Guadi daughters take a couple years to truly develop into the impressive producers that they usually are. We are willing to wait. Nelly is fun, good natured, and has the most notable depth of body we have ever seen in a yearling. We love this little girl!
Update 5/2025: We were shocked when Nelly kidded this spring. She was MASSIVE and we were expecting at least twins, but thought triplets would be likely. The joke was on us when she delivered a single buck kid! That didn't slow her down, though. Nelly went to work milking and peaked at 11lbs/day out of a very impressive second freshening udder. Good job, Nelly!
Nelly and her sister have gone to live with some wonderful friends to be the foundation for their Herd Share program. We are thrilled that she is with such a special family and that we still get to see her now and then!
