We are thrilled beyond words to have brought home another herdsire from Black Mesa Ranch!
Abraham's dam, Reese, is what we would hope for all of our does: Elegant, strong, and extremely productive. Reese has peaked at over two gallons for her last two years on test and was on the 2017 ADGA Top Ten Breed Leader list as number 1 for butterfat! She also has the impressive Linear Appraisal score of 91 VVEE as a 4 year old.
Abraham is an amazingly gentle, easygoing boy and he passes that lovely temperament to his kids. His daughters are consistently beautiful with level toplines and have lovely, well attached, productive udders. We are so excited as this boy continues to impact our herd!
UPDATE December 2022: Abraham had a very scary -- and nearly fatal -- bout of polio a couple of years ago and even though he pulled through, his health was a little more fragile afterwards. The past couple of months have been very difficult with Abraham declining despite trying everything we could think of to help him improve. We were very sad, but not surprised when he died in his sleep early in December. We miss Abraham profoundly, but are very grateful for his numerous daughters and granddaughters in our herd. We are grateful for his son that we kept this year and are hoping that Tribute continues the legacy of his amazing dad. We also hope to continue to allow Abraham to impact our herd through AI in the future.
